Description yoga
Eric's first yoga inspiration came from an unlikely source. As a kid growing up in the 70's his yoga spark came from Yoda. That's right, Star Wars!
This is where the idea of 'Oneness' of all begins to take shape. For the younger generation out there, the FORCE described by Yoda is the energy created by all living things that surrounds us, pentrates and binds the galaxy together.'--it brings balance.
It wasn't until later in life after practicing various yoga types that Eric found his groove in practicing Ashtanga & Vinyasa yoga. In this, he continued his studies with Ron Reid and Diane Bruni from the renowned 'Downward Dog Yoga Center' in Toronto, Canada. While here, Eric also discovered the practice of Yoga Nidra and knew from his first experience that this was something that would shape his future practice. After teaching while in Toronto, Eric relocated to Hamburg, Germany where he developed into a Senior Teacher at Power Yoga Germany.
Over the years here, Eric gained further inspiration and structure that nurtured his own style of teaching further. A simple belief took shape—Yoga is a tool for anyone to release tensions, deepen awareness, open your-self and in result, simplify life.
Eric's classes inspire students to move beyond they're comfort zone safely, threading creative and intelligent yoga asana together with music beats and insightful brainfood that can be applied to today's daily life.
Yoga Nidra—the bridge that binds asana to meditation-- is led as either a stand-alone or end of asana practice where students are gently guided to further release deep seeded stress and tension only to awaken to a more balanced nervous system, improved sleep patterns and emotional acceptance that stimulates the healing response of the body and mind.
Eric's classes are currently taught under 'Eric Bennewitz Yoga & Yoga Nidra' in Hamburg. He has led a number of Yoga Nidra workshops and teacher trainings over the years and offers classes, workshops, retreats and trainings locally and abroad. Eric currently mentors with Jennifer Reis, one of North America's foremost teachers of Yoga Nidra.
