Yoga as a path to inner peace in busy everyday life

Yoga as a path to inner peace in busy everyday life - FindeDeinYoga.org

Yoga has been my passion for over 10 years. Yoga is now the most important balance for me in the professional environment and gives me focus and calm.

I, Sandra, am a globetrotter with Austrian roots. Even as a teenager, the Asian cultural area had a great fascination for me. Not surprisingly, I ended up in Hong Kong for a semester during my studies in 2003. After completing my studies, I lived in Asia for several years and worked in the management of European companies.

In addition to many exciting and enriching moments, the environment there also offered pressure and stress due to cultural differences and environmental pollution. I had my first hands-on contact with yoga ten years ago in China. I became aware of a yoga class near my apartment in Beijing. After reading about yoga in books a few years earlier, I decided to go to the first class. It was a beautifully flowing, physically demanding asana class, accompanied by calming music. The course leader Li An (李安 – “An” appropriately means “peace”) walked through the room with a calm, confident aura, demonstrated asanas and corrected any misalignments. At the end of the class, the lights were dimmed and a few minutes of deep relaxation in Savasana followed. The feeling after this yoga session was almost indescribable for me after a stressful day at the office. I felt harmonious again for a long time and was able to wonderfully let go of thoughts that were bothering me during the day.

This is how my regular yoga practice started. Since then, in many beautiful corners of the world - from California to India to New Zealand - I have been able to feel the liberating removal of ballast in yoga classes with many experienced, multi-faceted yoga teachers. Yoga became my “oasis of calm”. Yoga practice gives me new, fresh energy and joy of life.

Since moving back to Austria (2012), I have continued to work in a fulfilling, enriching and challenging environment. For me, yoga is still an important balance and part of my everyday life. Yoga now also helps me with jet lag! My body is so conditioned by regular morning yoga practice that my system “boots up” as soon as I start my pranayama techniques and sun salutations - no matter what time zone.

In order to deepen my yoga practice even further and to be able to share my experiences with yoga with others, I decided in 2013 to complete several months of training to become a yoga teacher. Since then I have been offering part-time courses for beginners and slightly advanced yoginis and yogis.

At " Yoga Refresh" my focus is on gently guided Hatha yoga units. The focus is on the health-promoting aspect, flowing elements and static sequences with a focus on breathing and self-awareness create a varied balance.

Om Shanti,
Yoga Refresh - Sandra
