The yoga restart - here we go again!

The yoga restart - here we go again! - FindeDeinYoga.org

We are so happy that we can start again. After weeks of waiting and worrying, things happened faster than expected - more and more federal states are allowing yoga classes in groups outside and in closed rooms again! Regulations and laws to contain the corona virus still apply. Are you ready for the yoga restart?

Yoga – a new start

The yoga restart is one thing above all: a great opportunity. As a yoga teacher, you can teach students on site again. In order to do this, you need a roadmap for the next few months. Start with the question: “Where am I in the current situation?” and work towards a perspective bit by bit. Our yoga navigator can help you think about goals in different areas of action.

Yoga Navigator

For you as a yoga teacher and your yoga studio, go through the following recommendations for the four areas of action management, yoga courses, finances and team to determine whether you are on the right track and have not forgotten anything for the restart. The light fields contain target states that you should have achieved in the next few weeks. You should regularly check the processing status of each field of action. Think about smaller (intermediate) goals on the way to the big goals and perhaps other goals that we haven't listed.

You should check the processing status again and again, because - without drawing a negative scenario, the really unpleasant phase is only now coming. After the 'acute phase' of the corona pandemic, in which there was a general feeling that the special situation that had been created was necessary and that everyone had to do their part, the feeling is now slowly fading. The feeling that this situation will last longer is increasingly giving way to the certainty that the new normal will define the next few months.

There are therefore a whole series of special risks in the time ahead. From a management perspective , the first field of action, a good leadership strategy must above all be implemented sustainably. You have to think about how to communicate the requirements with customers and the team and how to deal with possible problems. Think about worst cases for each field of action and play them through. For example, how should customers be dealt with who do not want to comply with the regulations? You don't have them? No? Then you don't have any students who take their cell phones with them to class, even though you've already said so countless times?! Lucky you! If you already have solutions to potential problems, you will be better prepared.

In the second field of action, yoga courses , the organization of service provision dominates. How can you establish digital solutions (course booking, course payment)? What changes in the organization of the courses (hygiene requirements, participant limits) will shape the yoga service in the medium term? How does a yoga course have to be organized so that it complies with federal government laws, is appealing and is financially worthwhile for you as a teacher?

This brings us to the third area of action: finances . In addition to the substantive requirements, there are also serious economic challenges. In the short term, most yoga studios were able to stay afloat with reserves or the federal government's aid funds. In the medium term, however, there are risks that are difficult to assess if the restrictions continue in the long term. How unsettled is the current situation for yoga students - will they even come back to the courses? Can the necessary capacity utilization be achieved so that the rent for the yoga studio can continue to be paid?

Last but not least is the team perspective . Try to give your team security and show them new ways and ideas. A shared understanding of goals can help ensure that the mood remains positive and that everyone gets along.

With the help of the yoga navigator, you can get a brief overview of which task areas still need to be worked on and where you are already well positioned. And if you look towards the future: then ask yourself the question: Which of the changes can you use profitably for your yoga in the future?

Current regulations

More and more federal states are allowing yoga classes outside and in closed rooms again. Unfortunately, there are no Germany-wide regulations. Each federal state decides for itself which current regulations apply. It's best to get regular information from the federal government here: Corona regulations in the federal states.

Hygiene concept

To carry out yoga courses indoors and outdoors, current hygiene requirements must be followed. You can find a current overview for each federal state from the employers' association of German fitness and health facilities here: Hygiene requirements of the federal states.

At the Association of Yoga Teachers in the Kneipp Association you can find a sample hygiene concept here: Sample hygiene concept and current regulations for each federal state .

At the Federal Center for Health Education you can find infographics on hygiene and proper handwashing that you can print out for your yoga studio here: Infographics Hygiene.
