According to a study by the BDY (Professional Association of Yoga Teachers in Germany), a total of 5 percent of Germans currently practice yoga. This shows that yoga practice in Germany is on the rise ( 2014 : 3 percent). The proportion of yoga practitioners is significantly higher among women at 9 percent than among men at just 1 percent. Middle-aged singles (25 to 49 years old) and middle-aged people living in partnerships without children and young seniors (50 to 64 years old) in particular practice yoga. Yoga is also most widespread among people with a higher level of education as well as among civil servants and employees.
