Rough nights four to seven: end with the past and be ready for the new

Rough nights four to seven: end with the past and be ready for the new - FindeDeinYoga.org

The blog series on the topic of the Rauhnächte, the mysterious and holy time between Christmas and Epiphany, continues. The first three Rauhnächte were already examined in more detail in the previous blog post. You haven't read the post yet? Then click here.

At this point we continue with the fourth Rauhnacht , the night from December 27th to 28th. This symbolizes April of the following year and is dedicated to the dissolution of blockages . If we look at it metaphorically, in April the new buds of the plants break open and nature awakens to a new life after hibernation.

Use this rough night to work through things in the past that may not have gone well or that are weighing you down and to make room for new things . Focus on your talents, your hobbies, perhaps plan a trip or start a new project.

Also ask yourself the following questions and answer them for yourself as best you can:

  • What do I want to do for myself?
  • Which old habits keep coming back to me? Which of them do I want to break and change?
  • What can I let go of?
  • What is blocking me?

The fifth Rauhnacht from December 28th to 29th represents May of the coming year. The themes of this Rauhnacht are self-love and friendship .

Do something good for yourself and give yourself a little time for yourself, for example by meditating, going for a walk or just enjoying a warm cup of tea in front of the fireplace. Thank your friends for being there and show them how much they mean to you. For example, write them a card or call them.

You can also ask yourself the following questions:

  • Who are my friends? Who do I like to spend time with?
  • Which people do I want to break away from?
  • Am I a good friend to myself?
  • What is important to me in a friendship?

The sixth Rauhnacht from December 29th to 30th is all about the topic of cleansing . It symbolizes the month of June of the following year and is dedicated to the question: What do I want to leave behind from the last year?

Create order in your living space, but also in your thoughts.

You can ask yourself the following questions:

  • What can I let go of? What can I free myself from?
  • What is not yet taken? What still needs to be completed?

The seventh Rauhnacht from December 30th to 31st is the last night of the old year and thus also a turning point within the Rauhnacht. It stands for July of the coming year and is concerned with preparing for the future . It is about finally leaving everything old behind and creating visions for the new year.

Prepare yourself a hot cocoa and make yourself comfortable in your retreat. Light candles, listen to some music and drink your cocoa mindfully. At the same time, mentally close off old issues.

Ask yourself:

  • What is my vision for the new year?
  • What do I want?
  • Where do I want to send strength and energy?

Ritual for your Rauhnächte: 13 wishes for the Rauhnächte

In this article, we would also like to introduce you to a ritual that you can perform during the Rauhnacht. A very popular one is the ritual of the 13 wishes.

Before the Rauhnacht begins (or on each day of the Rauhnacht), write down 13 wishes for the coming year. It's best to do this on small, identical pieces of paper and fold them up.

Ask yourself:

  • What should come true for me?
  • What do I want to strengthen in myself?

It is important that you actively formulate your wishes and imagine how it would feel if the wish came true. For example: “I am healthy.”

On each Rauhnacht you burn one of your wishes, but don't check which one beforehand. This sends your wishes to the universe to be fulfilled. It is said that the wish you burn on the first Rauhnacht will come true in January, the wish from the second Rauhnacht will come true in February, and so on.

A piece of paper will remain at the end of the Rauhnacht - you will not burn this, but open it on January 6th. In the coming years, you will play an active role in making this wish come true.

With the seventh Rauhnacht from December 30th to 31st, the old year is finally over and we are ready for something new . What will the remaining Rauhnachts in the new year be about? The following articles in this series will provide answers to these questions.

You can find out more about the ritual of the 13 wishes here.

So: come back and stay tuned!
