In our blog series on the topic of the Rauhnächte, there are still two Rauhnächte and the final day on Epiphany of the new year left. What are these nights about and what rituals can we perform to prepare for the coming year?
The eleventh and penultimate Rauhnacht of January 3rd to 4th symbolizes November and the focus is on the topics of letting go and saying goodbye . It is about dealing with death and the big questions of life. Think about why you are here, what you want to bring to this earth, what your life goal and meaning is. Because you can achieve a lot if you live from your center.
Trust in life and let go.
For example, ask yourself:
- What is the meaning of my life?
- Why am I here?
- What do I want to bring to earth?
- What is finally over and now wants to be let go?
- What are my goals?
- What is important to me in life?
The twelfth and final Rauhnacht from January 4th to 5th is also called the Night of Miracles. It represents the coming December and serves to bring to a final conclusion what may not have gone so well in the previous Rauhnachts. Write down all of these things and burn them.
You can also meditate again and imagine a powerful violet beam of light that banishes and dissolves everything negative.
The main message of this last night is: Accept your path with gratitude.
This night you can ask yourself:
- What else needs to be cleaned up?
- What miracle should happen?
- Which path will I take in the new year?
On Epiphany night from January 5th to 6th, the Three Wise Men come to the Christ Child and bless him. You should also take this day to look back at your past Rauhnacht and bless your life. Light a candle and carefully read through your notes from the last 12 days and nights. Pay attention to what inspiration you have been given for the new year.
Ask yourself again:
- What messages emerged for you?
- What new insights are you taking with you into the new year?
On January 6th, the gates to the other world close again and we are ready to start a new year.
Ritual for your Rauhnacht: Yoga and meditation
You may have already noticed: We have repeatedly suggested that you meditate during the Rauhnächten. Inner peace and clarity are essential components of the Rauhnächten. Meditations or yoga sessions can help you get into the right mood. Make sure you take time for yourself.
For example, light a candle every evening and sit down comfortably. Now breathe in and out calmly twelve times, once for each month. After December, close your eyes for a few minutes and feel inside yourself. Then look at the candle again and start the whole thing again from the beginning. Feel how the light of the candle is reflected inside you. Take the light into your chest and heart and perceive it consciously. Maintain this focus even after you have finished the ritual and put out the candle.
If you would like to connect with nature, you can also move your meditation outside, for example into the forest, or try a walking meditation.

With this post we conclude our blog series on the tradition of the Rauhnächte and wish you many wonderful insights and a good start to the new year!
